Past Competitions

During 2014, the first full cycle of the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund, more than 30 Innovation Fund grants were awarded to teams of more than 100 higher education institutions from 12 countries in the Western Hemisphere.

Competition 1 (RFP 1) (Sponsored by the US Department of State): Capacity-Building Program to Reach 100,000 Strong.
Eligibility:  Institutions from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Mexico.


Competition 2 (RFP 2) (Sponsored by Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Foundation): Promoting Study Abroad in STEM and Sustainable Development. Eligibility: Institutions from Chile, Peru, United States.


Competition 3 (RFP 3) (Sponsored by Santander Universities, a division of Santander Bank): Promoting Study Abroad Partnerships for Innovation and Collaboration. Eligibility: All Western Hemisphere Institutions.


Competition 4 (RFP 4) (Supported by the ExxonMobil Foundation): Promoting Study Abroad in Engineering, Physics, Geology, and Geophysics. Eligibility: Institutions from the U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.


Competition 5 (RFP 5) (Supported by the Coca-Cola Foundation): Promoting Study Abroad Focusing on Health and Nutrition. Eligibility: Institutions from the U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.


Competition 6 (RFP 6) (Sponsored by Santander Universities, a division of Santander Bank): Promoting Study Abroad Partnerships for Innovation and Collaboration. Eligibility: All Western Hemisphere Institutions.


Competition 7 (RFP 7) (Sponsored by Department of State of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico): Promoting Study Abroad Partnerships for Innovation and Collaboration between the Americas and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Eligibility: All non-U.S. Western Hemisphere Institutions and Higher Education Institutions from Puerto Rico.


Competition 8 (RFP 8) (Sponsored by SENA and CAF-Development Bank of Latin America): Advancing Professional and Technical Training between Colombia and the U.S. through Study Abroad. Eligibility: Higher Education Institutions from the U.S. and Colombia.


Competition 9 (RFP 9) (Supported by the ExxonMobil Foundation): Promoting Study Abroad in Engineering, Physics, Geology, and Geophysics. Eligibility: Institutions from the U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.
