The History and Pedagogy of Cuban Education
The College of Staten Island will broaden and enhance its study abroad program with Universidad de Ciencias Pedagógicas “Enrique José Varona” by creating a unique intercultural student exchange program that will focus on the history and pedagogy of the Cuban educational system. This short-term program will enable students and faculty from the partnering institutions to work alongside one another and integrate real-world observations and interactions in Cuban K-12 schools among the teachers and children. Students will learn about the history of Cuban education and the pedagogy of teaching in Cuba and will have direct observational knowledge of techniques employed by Cuban educators along with theoretical knowledge from seminars.
La historia y la pedagogía de la educación cubana
El College of Staten Island ampliará y potenciará su programa de estudios en el extranjero con la Universidad de Ciencias Pedagógicas “Enrique José Varona”, creando un programa único e intercultural de intercambio estudiantil que se centrará en la historia y la pedagogía del sistema educativo cubano. Mediante este programa de corto plazo, los estudiantes y profesores de las instituciones asociadas podrán trabajar en conjunto integrando observaciones e interacciones del mundo real que se generan entre maestros y niños, teniendo como contexto escuelas cubanas que incluyen desde jardín infantil hasta cuarto año de educación secundaria. Los estudiantes aprenderán acerca de la historia de la educación cubana y la pedagogía de la enseñanza en Cuba, y adquirirán conocimiento de observación directo de las técnicas utilizadas por los educadores cubanos, así como conocimientos teóricos a partir de seminarios.
