Advancing Biomass Transformation through Multidisciplinary Exchange (ABTME)

The Advancing Biomass Transformation through Multidisciplinary Exchange (ABTME) project is focused on sustainable energy, a key priority within Colombian government guidelines. ABTME will facilitate international internship experience for students while formalizing the partnership between the institutions. Both universities are located in important agricultural regions and are conscious of their potential in transforming biomass into sustainable energy. The Washington State Department of Biological Systems Engineering and Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering are working to convert biomass into carbon offset products and fuels. This is an area of interest in ICESI’s Biochemical Engineering program while they work on the use of biomass in creating bioproducts and biofuels. This collaborative work will contribute to the development of long-lasting sustainable energy in both countries, boosting a new green era.
