Promoting Bi-institutional Hemispheric Collaboration through Study Abroad in Humanitarian Engineering

Metropolitan State University of Denver will offer an innovative study abroad opportunity in Humanitarian Engineering, an area that merges engineering technical skills with other areas of knowledge to derive solutions that are sustainable, participatory, and aimed at improving resilience and capacity of vulnerable communities. Students from the U.S. and in Mexico will work collaboratively on applied research projects, service-learning and cross-cultural activities that focus on the research, design, and application of new technology under the context of sustainable design to promote social justice. By involving students in projects in this arena, they gain a greater perspective and awareness of their ability to positively impact their communities and the world.
